The career of Alfred Hitchcock in the world of cinema began in 1922 as Art Director,Screenwriter and Assistant Director.

Hitchcock,first directorial effort had been a Two-reeler titled " Number Thirteen" unfinished. He also completed director Seymour Hicks' " Always tell your Wife" both in 1922.
But his first real film, the one which for the first time read in the credits:* DIRECTED BY ALFRED HITCHCOCK* was a German co-production titled : "The Pleasure Garden"
