Texas (1941) Columbia Director: George Marshall Screenplay:Horace McCoy,Lewis Meltzer,Michael Blankfort Cast: William Holden, Glenn Ford (Tod Ramsey) Claire Trevor, Edgar Buchanan, Joseph Crehan,George Bancroft, ![William Holden, Glenn Ford, Claire Trevor](https://brunosaracchi.tripod.com//sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/41_texas.jpg) William Holden, Glenn Ford, Claire Trevor Back to Columbia in an agreeable 'oater' whixch combined action and comedy in nicely balanced proportions, Glenn costarred with William Holden, the other fast rising young leading man of Columbia, They play Confederate veterans wandering in Texas who go separate ways. Glenn become an honest cowhand, Bill a rustler, and both fall for Trevor. At the end, naturally Holden repents and pays with a bullet. The direction was well paced and the film did well. ![Horizontal Divider 9](/imagelib/sitebuilder/pictures/hrlines/hr5.gif)
The Adventures of Martin Eden (1942) Columbia Director: Sidney Salkow Screenplay: W. L. River Cast: Glenn Ford (Martin Eden), Claire Trevor, Evelyn Keyes, Stuart Erwin, Ian MacDonald, Dickie Moore, ![Claire Trevor, Glenn Ford](https://brunosaracchi.tripod.com//sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/42_martineden_1.jpg)
Claire Trevor, Glenn Ford Poorly scripted treatment of the stirring story by Jack London, with a routine direction and performances. GF is the hero whose memoirs of the brutal treatment by the skipper of the ship he was on, help to free a fellow sailor unjustly accused of mutiny and bring the skipper to justice instead. Trevor and Keyes are the women in Martin's life. ![Horizontal Divider 30](/imagelib/sitebuilder/pictures/hrlines/hr5.gif)
Destroyer (1943) Columbia Director: William A. Seiter Screenplay: Frank Wead, Lewis Meltzer, Borden Chase Cast: Glenn Ford (Mickey Donohue) Edward G. Robinson, Marguerite Chapman, Edgar Buchanan, Regis Toomey, ![Glenn Ford, Edward G.Robinson](https://brunosaracchi.tripod.com//sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/43_destroyer.jpg)
Glenn Ford, Edward G. Robinson Another wartime melodrama about ships and the men who sail in them. GF is a petty officer who clashes with his commander on a destroyer. The older man is a real pain in the neck, always talking about as good and well done were things in the good old days. He becomes so unpopular he is ousted from his position, but naturally redeem himself before the end. The film was an uninteresting thing and everybody's mind was not on it, and it shows. ![Horizontal Divider 30](/imagelib/sitebuilder/pictures/hrlines/hr5.gif)
Show Business at War (1943) ![Portrait- (No still available)](https://brunosaracchi.tripod.com//sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/55_glennportrait.jpg)
A multi-studio project to show the pubblic the contribution of Hollywood stars to the War effort featured cameos from about all the major Stars as themselves. It was a short documentary and is rarely cited in any actor or actress filmography. | ![](/imagelib/sitebuilder/layout/spacer.gif) |
Go West, Young Lady (1941) Columbia Director: Frank Strayer Screenplay: Richard Flournoy, Karen De Wolf Choreography: Louis Da Pron. Cast: Glenn Ford (sheriff Tex Miller), Penny Singleton, Ann Miller, Charles Ruggles, Allen Jenkins Ann Miller, Glenn Ford Forgettable musical with GF a sheriff who rids a small town of an outlaw called Pecos Pete. Penny Singleton (Of Blondie's fame) and Ann Miller, whose too brief dance number is the only highlight of the show, play the two girls vieing for him. ![Horizontal Divider 26](/imagelib/sitebuilder/pictures/hrlines/hr5.gif)
Flight Lieutenant (1942) Columbia Director: Sidney Salkow Screenplay: Michael Blankfort from a story by Richard Farrell & Betty Hopkins Cast: Pat O'Brien, Glenn Ford (Danny Doyle) Evelyn Keyes, Lloyd Bridges, Larry Parks, ![Glenn Ford, Pat O'Brien](https://brunosaracchi.tripod.com//sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/42_flightlieut.jpg)
Glenn Ford, Pat O'Brien This one is about the flyer whose negligence caused the death of his co-pilot. O'Brian tries his best and GF is cast as his son in love with the dead man daughter. Father redeems. The himself taking son's place, and sacrifices his life The story is trite and the treatment is barely adequate, Even the two central performances seemed afflicted by it. ![Horizontal Divider 26](/imagelib/sitebuilder/pictures/hrlines/hr5.gif)
The Desperadoes (1943) Columbia Director: Charles Vidor Screenplay: Robert Carson, Max Brand(story) Cast: Glenn Ford (Cheyenne Rogers) Evelyn Keyes, Randolph Scott, Claire Trevor, Edgar Buchanan, ![Glenn Ford, Evelyn Keyes](https://brunosaracchi.tripod.com//sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/43_desperadoes.jpg)
Glenn Ford, Evelyn Keyes Scott is the sheriff,GF a fugitive that wants to go straight and has to clear his name. The film was a big budget Western, the first of the studio in Technicolor and the Utah wilderness, a thrilling wild horses stampede, a no-holds-barred bar-room brawl, and an exciting gunfight almost upstaged the actors. It would be the last film for Ford until his discharge from the Marines in 1946.
